491 State requirements

This is a state nominated provisional visa for skilled migrants that allows you to live and work in South Australia for up to five years.

For a period of five years, points-tested skilled workers and their families are permitted to live, study, and work in certain regional areas under the terms of the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491) visa. If you are given a Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491) visa, you might be qualified to apply for a Permanent Residency (Skilled Regional) (subclass 191) visa, which grants you permanent residence and the freedom to live and work wherever you like in Australia.

The subclass 491 is a temporary, points-tested visa designed to help regional Australia access the talent and resources it needs to develop and prosper. This visa is for persons who want to live permanently in regional Australia and who have highly sought-after abilities on the job market there.
